How it Started

The Can-Am brand dates back to 1937 when Joseph-Armand Bombardier was granted a patent for the very first snowmobile. Over the next decades, he would refine his designs and branch out into other powersports vehicle types. It all began in the province of Quebec, Canada, and now the name is known worldwide.
 

Becoming a Stand-Alone Company

The Can-Am name is backed by more than seventy years of innovation and experience, but it wasn’t until 2003 that the BRP company became a stand-alone force. The company showcased an impressive portfolio of powersports, marine, and aviation products, so when they hit the market as BRP, they quickly gained traction. Following their launch, they created the industry’s first 3-wheeled vehicle, joined the side-by-side market, and entered NASDAQ.
 

Historically Reliable Options

The history of the company is impressive and as we all look ahead, it’s hard to ignore how many diverse options are available from Can-Am. Although the name technically got its start in the snow vehicle industry, today we know them as a reliable force in ATVs and UTVs.
